The results of Okangan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB) July 2016 Buyers Survey are now published. A total of 409 responses representing 40% of the 1021 deals closed on behalf of Buyers in July.

It seems that Local Buyers, Families & First Time Buyers were busier again last month.

JULY SURVEY SUMMARY

Property Type:

21.4% by Relocating and moving to similar property type (up from 20.8% in June)

17.7% by Move-Up Buyers (down from 20.0%)

17.4% by First Time Buyers (up from 11.9%)

14.7% by Buyers Downsizing (down from 18.6%)

12.7% buying Revenue/Investment Property (down from 13.6%)

5.5% moving from Strata Property to Single Family Home (up from 3.0%)

5.2% moving from Single Family Home to Strata Unit (down from 7.9%)

4.2% buying Recreation Property (up from 3.6%)

2.0% moving into Retirement Home/Seniors Community (down from 2.6%)

 Buyer Type (Family Dynamic):

29.7% Two Parent Family/Children (up from 25% in June)

22.9% Couple without Children (down from 24.7%)

21.1% Empty Nester/Retired (up from 20.7%)

13.8% Single Female (up from 13.5%)

8.8% Single Male (down from 11.2%)

3.4% Single Parent with Children (down from 4.7%)

Moving From:

59.9% from Within OMREB Board Area (up from 55.7% in June)

17.8% from Lower Mainland/Vancouver Island (down from 18.2%)

9.3% from Alberta (down from 11.2%)

6.6% from Other Areas in BC (down from 8%)

2.2% from Eastern Canada/Maritimes (down from 3.1%)

2.2% from Outside Canada (up from 1.2%)

1.7% from Saskatchewan/Manitoba (down from 2.5%)

0.2% from NWT/Yukon (up from 0%)
